Education In America

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7ob1AfM1Dg

This link I believe gives us hope for what we've been talking about in class concerning education in America. I think that if we can find a way to accomodate each social class reasonably, the financial backing into our educational system should be able to produce capable individuals who are ready for the work force. What do you think?

  1. Maria, Brian, and Sean all have one thing in common: they are driven to do better than the norm at their school. They all have a self interest and want to succeed in life. Regardless of social class, if a student wants to prepare him or herself for the future in the best way possible, they will push to do that. Maria may not get into Stanford, but she will go to a good college and then a grad school from there. She seems very driven and will find a way to get what she wants. The issue of students today is not entirely what they have access too (although that plays a role), it is self motivation and determination. Students are too pessimistic in their educations. If they want to be successful they need to push themselves, because that is what will have to happen in "the real world" when they have real jobs.
