A new photograph has surfaced in the Trayvon Martin case that ABC News, which
procured the pic, says "could lend credence" to George Zimmerman's claim that he shot the unarmed teen after Martin bashed his head against the concrete in a scuffle. The graphic photo, taken on an iPhone by an unidentified person who arrived on the scene after the shooting, shows the back of what may be Zimmerman's head with blood trickling out of two cuts and a possible contusion on the crown. The photographer said Zimmerman asked that his wife be called, saying, "Man, just tell her I shot someone." The Martin family's attorney said the image won't affect the charges against Zimmerman, whose bond was
set today at $150,000.

ReplyDeleteI think that there is no way Zimmerman should have shot him, because he is almost 30, and he was 25 pounds heavier than Treyvon, and he also was taking criminal justice classes and was at his final semester (do they learn combat effective skills..?). Either way, he should have been able to handle a tall and skinny kid, and those cuts on his head are miniscule. It would be ridiculous to say that those cuts justify anything. I understand that in the eyes of the law it might be justifiable because of that, but clearly this guy is crazy, after calling the police 30 some times in a matter of a few months. Anyone who does that should not even be allowed to carry a gun, especially if he has to resort to using it when he fights someone almost half his age and 25 pounds less than him.

Despite the photo, I still don't think it justifies a shooting. Zimmerman could have called the police and kept his distance. In addition, shouldn't the person that took the picture be able to testify as well. It's a little sketchy that this evidence only turns up now.
